"Réveillons!" is, in French, the present imperative form of the verb "to awaken". Wake up!. It is a clear and precise embodiment of the message the band seeks to convey. Indeed, since it was founded in 1996, Réveillons! has been on a mission to reawaken the traditions and culture that lie dormant within each of us; who can resist the imperative call of instinct and ancestry. Comprised of Richard Forest (composition and fiddle) Marc Maziade (guitar, voice), David Berthiaume (voice, jaw harp) and Jean-Fran?ois Berthiaume (percussions, step dance, voice, call, etc.), the band has taken part in several events, such as "Les Francofolies de Montréal", the "Festival International des Arts Traditionnels de Québec", "Les Folkloriques de Tadoussac" , "Le Mondial des Cultures de Drummondville", the Montreal International Celtic Festival, "la Gigue en Fête de la Beauce", "La Grande Rencontre de Montréal", and "Les Journées de la Culture de Laval". Band members also perform in various metropolitan area bars (Place à côté, Lion d'or, Zest, Cabaret du Roy) where, like in the olden days, the rhythms of traditional music breathe life into evenings of dancing and rejoicing.? Réveillons! offers a new approach to traditional music; their repertoire is not confined to a single, fixed period in time, their music is alive, and while it retains the spirit of tradition, it never ceases to grow and change as the band explores creation, archives and interpretations. Réveillons! fits right in with the current universal trend, a collective longing to "return to our roots", in that it works to revive and stimulate tradition and cultural heritage.
