Scrievit is a three piece acoustic ensemble that deftly balances on the line between traditional and contemporary folk music. Featuring Christine Storey on fiddle and vocals; Ed Nicol on guitar, mandolin, bouzouki and vocals and Scott Henderson on border pipes, highland pipes, flute and whistles; the band combines their collective musical backgrounds to produce a sound that cuts across musical traditions. From rhythmic and driving instrumental sets to traditional and original songs, Scrievit performs with a tightness, skill and sensitivity that only come with experience. Having played music together for over ten years, the band members have shared the stage with the likes of Natalie McMaster, The Barra MacNeils, Rawlins Cross and The Old Blind Dogs and have played folk venues across Canada and the United States including the Home County Folk Festival in London, the Celtic Roots Festival in Goderich, the Big Pond Festival in Cape Breton and Hugh's Room in Toronto |
