Celtic and East Coast Music Duo. With Les Smith from Newfoundland and Glenn McFarlane from New Brunswick, it's quite obvious where this pair gets their love of Celtic and East Coast folk music. Les plays a multitude of instruments, including bass, tin whistle, Irish flute, concertina, accordion, bodhran, mandolin, banjolin, percussion, and is the primary vocalist, while Glenn plays guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, harmonica, accordion, percussion, and also sings. They deliver a high-energy versatile show filled with songs from both sides of the Atlantic, lively jigs and reels, tender ballads (often a cappella!), and recitations. Their material varies considerably in both content and arrangement, from steadfastly traditional to very eclectic. They have been playing together since 1992, and have released three CDs to date: "Heads Up!" (2000), "Self Titled" (2003) and "Windsniffer and Other Assorted Legends" (2007). www.brownalemusic.ca
